                Slumdog millionaire, a movie which managed to get 4 awards in the golden globe awards is indeed a very educational one unlike other movies. The movie is about Jamal Malik, an 18 year old slum dog from Mumbai who is going to experience the best day of his life. The movie started with Jamal being just  on India’s television show named “who wants to be a millionaire?” which was hosted by Prem Kumar  who was once a slumdog as well. Jamal was just one question away from being a millionaire.

            Before he could answer the final question which will lead him to 20 million rupees, he was arrested by a police man for the suspicion of fraud. Since the crowd as well as those associated with the game show wonders how such a non genius slum dog like Jamal who has no education and works in a call center serving tea could be able to answer all the questions accurately. They wonder whether its just luck or he is cheating as he kept on giving precise answers and those who are brighter and more educated than him have failed.

            Jamal proved his innocence by telling the story of his life to the policeman. The police inspector showed him the videotape of the entire show and for each question he explained the part of his past life which answers the questions. He explained about how he grew up in an orphanage with his older brother (Salim) who was his guardian/protector and antagonist, the adventures they had together, the fights they had to survive on the street and also about Latika another orphaned child, the love of his life. Surprisingly each chapter of his life story answers the questions given by Prem Kumar in the show.  

            One question which remains in everyone’s mind is what Jamal’s actual intention is of joining this show as he has no interest for possessions. The next day Jamal returns to answer the final question. The inspector and other millions of viewers were there to watch what was going to be a historic moment in India as Jamal Malik is one of the few to have reached the million dollar question. Finally, his common sense and past experience proved his innocence and made his win the 20 million rupees. At the end of the movie Jamal also got back together with the love of his life, Latika.

Slumdog Millionaire – Story theme

Slumdog millionaire is a story about an Indian teen boy Jamal Malik who was impoverished but fortunately was the contestant of a famous show “Who wants to be a millionaire – Hindi version”, a boy without any intention of winning the money but only hope of finding his lost love. The main theme in this movie is hope and destiny.

Jamal Malik was arrested after the show as he was not supposed to answer all the questions correctly as he was after all only a slumdog. Questions even professors and doctors cannot answer and cannot pass through a certain level of difficulty, but instead of all this Jamal can answer all the questions. When interrogated by the police officer, he explained how he knew all the answers through his experiences in each of his life phase, but he could not even answer a simple question asked by the police.

He explained that every question reminded him of every stage of his tough childhood with his brother, Salim and his friend, Latika. For every question reminded him of how he lived through the past and fighting to survive in the harsh world. Along the way he lost Latika but he promised to himself that he would find her again someday in the future. In the hope of finding Latika, Jamal who was only a tea boy had an initiative of joining the show as he knew that Latika was very fond of the show. In the end, He became the contestant, won 20 million rupees and found his lost love.

The theme in the story is clear, hope that was expressed by the characters with every single level of emotions. Hope of finding his love, hope of these kids surviving by themselves in India as they are just slumdogs. They possess a living that none of the Western people can imagine of doing so. But in spite of only hope, the movie is also about destiny. Destiny of how people who have no hope or any life prospects in their entire life can change within a night. Love is also a part of the story. This movie not only has a wonderful story, the theme also taught us about life.

“SLUM DOG MILLIONAIRE”

Slum dog millionaire is a very inspirational as well as an educational movie. It is about a small and poor indian boy named Salim who made up his future with all his faith,honesty and experience. He was a 5 year old boy who lived in a slum area with his elder brother Jamal and his mother. He was forced to move out of the slum area when there was a slum clearing. They were forced to move out brutally and unfortunately Salim lost his mother when she was protecting him from those brutal actions. He and his brother successfully escaped from and met another girl of their age which was also alone like them. Salim was a kind hearted boy and therefore he took her with them. Unfortunately they were all taken to a child laboring centre where all of them were forced to be beggars and slaves.
Salim and Jamal succeed to escape from that place but they couldn’t take Latika with them and Salim was feeling very guilty to leave Latika in such a bad place. Moreover, Salim has fallen I love with Latika since the first time they met and he promised himself that one day he will come back and take Latika away from those bad people . From this movie we can clearly see the kindness of Jamal compared to his brother. The cruelty of life doesn’t influence Jamal to be as bad as the people around him. He still follows the right path and continues his life. When he joined a show called” Who wants to be a Millionaire” he did not have much knowledge about the world. He only uses honesty and his experiences during his life. This proves that we do not have to be smart or rich to be successful in life. The key to be happy and successful is to be honest and have a clean heart. This movie shows a comparison of Salim and his brother Jamal in which they were in the same situation but Jamal followed the wrong path of life and he was easily influenced by his bad environment. When Jamal was big enough he tried to find Latika and take her back with him but Latika refused because he doesn’t want him to be in danger, but Salim was patience enough to work hard and make the situation better for him and Latika.
When Salim plays “who wants to be a millionaire” he was just using his instinct and feelings. He was given the wrong answer by the host but fortunately he did not trust the host’s answers. He beliefs in himself and that’s what made him always win. He has a faith that everything which will happen is according to his destiny. He is not materialistic and not easily to give up on a hard life. He cares about his family and always try to achieve his dreams. He is a very simple ,naïve and true boy who will do anything for the one he loves.
To sum up, we do not have to be rich, smart or popular to be successful. We have to be honest, true and never give up on life. The most important thing is that we have to believe in ourselves, because miracles can always happen when we believe..

Slumdog Millionaire Review

“Slumdog Millionaire” is about a movie that tells us about an Indian boy named Salim who successfully passes his life difficulties hard work and patience. Salim and his brother, Jamal, were born from poor parents and live in a dirty slum. One day when Salim was about 5 years old, there was a slum clearing and his mother asked Salim and his brother to run. Their mother died in her fight against this clearing. Salim, together with his brother, ran as far as they could and met a little girl his age. During their escape, they slept in a box and one morning, there was a boy standing in front of their box giving something to drink when they woke up. That man seemed kind to them but in fact, he was the one who made children suffer. However, at the end of the story, all of them could run away from that scary man. There are two themes that can be taken from the movie “Slumdog Millionire”.

One of the themes of is that when people are able to answer hard questions, it does not mean that those people have good education. Salim has shown this to us. Salim is a standard Indian boy with low education who can join the ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ quiz. He was able to answer all the questions and brought a lot of money to their family. Salim proved to all people especially to poor people that to win the quiz of ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’, does not need to be smart. When people have a lot of experiences, they already become smart people. Basically, Salim had difficulty when answering all the questions because when the questions related to world knowledge, Salim had never learnt that at school since he never got chance to go to school. He could answer all the questions given because he had wonderful experience. Another thing that makes Salim win the quiz is he has self – confidence. It is proven when he was stuck with a question and the host of ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ gave the answer secretly, Salim did not use the answer from the host, and this led to the winning of Salim.

Another theme that can be taken from this movie is patience can lead to the happy ending. Salim already had feeling toward Latika since the first time Salim met Latika when they escaped from the police. After getting safe from being captured by police, Salim, Jamal and Latika were taken by someone that looked honest from his appearance but tricky in his heart. One day, Jamal was asked by that man to call Salim out because that man wanted to make Salim blind, but as a god brother, Jamal successfully helped Salim and those three children were trying to escape from that place. However, when Jamal and Salim jumped successfully into a train, Salim could not safe Latika from those dangerous people. Salim felt really guilty and after he could earn money, he came back to that place and took Latika out. Furthermore, there are many difficulties that Salim and Latika had to face to be together. However, with patience, Salim and Latika could live happily ever after.

In conclusion, in order to survive in this world, people should be able to working hard and be patient. With patience and hard working, we could solve many problems in front of us. It is suggested that when people get difficulties, they should learn from their mistakes and try to improve the weaknesses they have.

Slum dog millionaire

This slum dog millionaire movie had given me such great impression, especially to one of the characters which is Jamal. This movie showed about two brothers, Jamal and Salim. Both of them were orphans. Yet, they still have huge spirit to live. They survived by stealing and cheating.
Once, they met a girl called Latika when wars happened in their village. Then, they started became good friends.

Salim and Jamal had always fight because of Salim's attitude and characteristics. Both of them had two diffrent characteristics. Jamal had a very good personalities, he had always fight for the best. While Salim always did something bad. Three of them was once worked with the gangster, and they did many bad things. At last, Salim killed the leader of the gangster.

When they were adult, three of them were separated. Salim worked with one bad guy. While, Jamal worked in telecommunication office. He had always tried to call upon Salim and Latika, to find out where were them. At last, he got chance to join "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire".
He used that chance to meet Latika.

He did won the game, also he did mention that "You don't have to be genius to answer that". It was one sentence he mentioned. From thaty, we could understand that he could answer all of the questions because of his experiences since he was small. Therefore, the point of the movie was that, we had to have experienced in order to get knowledge. Even like Jamal who had never been to school could be the winner of millionaire, by using his memories as well as his experiences.

Slumdog Millionaire Review

The film is a mix between a reality show "who wants to be a millionaire" quiz and Jamal's past. In this film, Jamal who is no one before was able to answer almost all questions in the quiz. He is just one question away from being a millionaire.
Then, the scene changes into Jamal's interrogation. He is suspected to cheat so he can answer the questions. But, actually Jamal can answer those questions because the question is somewhere related to his bitter past. This film is also about the relationship between Jamal, Salim and Latika. 
We can learn some lessons from Jamal’s bitter past. We can see the effect of racism in the Jamal’s clan slaughter. We can also learn that we can not judge someone just from his/her appearance. Sometimes, there are some hidden motives in a nice treatment. We also can learn something from Salim’s experience that a bad way will always end up bad, no matter how pleasing it looks like.
This film also teaches us that if we really fight for something, we will find a way to get it someday. It teaches us to not surrender to achieve our dream. There is always a possibility to be anything we want. Anyone can be success, no matter how impossible it looks like at the beginning.
This film is equipped by some nice Indian songs. The songs mixed up well with the film. It makes the film becomes more interesting to be watched. The change between Jamal’s past and present was nicely made so it is not too confusing.
But the beginning of this film is quite confusing. It needs some time to understand the plot and what is happening.  
Overall, this film is a good one and it is worth to watch.

Milk disaster in China

Experts have found melamine , a nitrogen rich chemical that is usually used in plastics and fertilizers in milk . Melamine is supposed to boost the protein content of milk products that has been diluted . Four babies have died and nearly 13,000 are in hospital after drinking this milk. The Chinese government agency in charge of product quality supervision on Friday issued detailed findings from a comprehensive national check, showing 24 of the 295 batches it tested from the three dairy brands were contaminated.they do this by deliberately watering down the milk to cut costs, then adding in the melamine to boost the protein content and make the product look normal.Because of this Starbucks has stopped serving drinks with milk. not only milk are tested to contain melamine , but all dairy products like yogurts and ice cream as well. This crisis has not only affected teh local markets , but imports of any dairly products from china has been banned by certain countries liek Singapore. Singapore removed Yili brand iced yoghurt and Dutch Lady strawberry flavoured milk from shelves after testing found the chemical in some samples.
